How to choose

Ticket questions

Do I need to book a trajinera in advance?

No. If you travel to the docks independently, you can rent a boat on arrival. The government regulates the price at 750 MXN per hour per boat. However, booking an organized tour in advance provides transport and avoids haggling.

What is included in a typical tour?

Most organized tours include round-trip transport from central Mexico City and a 2-hour shared trajinera ride. Some include drinks or combine the trip with stops in Coyoacán. Food from floating vendors is usually extra.

Can you eat on the trajineras in Xochimilco?

Yes. You can bring your own food onto the boats at no extra charge. You can also purchase roasted corn, tacos, and drinks from vendor boats that float alongside your trajinera.

Manuel was a great guide! Unfortunately without knowing much Spanish, I didn’t learn as much as I could have. But the kayaking was really peaceful and enjoyable
